What are QR codes?

Quick Response codes are two-dimensional codes that can contain encoded text, URLs, and other data.

Why use them?
A popular use for QR codes is providing links to individuals with internet-enabled and camera-equipped smartphones. They eliminate the need to type in a URL manually, for example.

How to use them.
You need a QR reading application on your Android, iPhone, or BlackBerry device. Searching in your respective application store or market will retrieve apps like Google Goggles, i-nigma Barcode Scanner, and more.

EBSCOhost iPhone/iPod touch app

EBSCOhost is one of several database vendors to which Swisher Library subscribes. The new iPhone and iPod touch app for EBSCOhost will allow you access at any time on your portable device to many library resouces.

Some of the features include:

• Choose which databases to search
• Limit results to full text or peer reviewed
• Sort by relevance or date
• Retrieve full text results in HTML and/or PDF formats
• Save results for offline access at a later date
• Email results to self or others
• Retrieve their most recent 25 search results
• Browse a “cover flow” display of search results

Instructions:
Access EBSCOhost as you typically would via the library website. Click the link at the bottom of any EBSCOhost page to email yourself the download instructions, access key and a link to the app store.
